CATS COP LEFT-EYE
the 2008 sbl season ended in a way that very few would have considered suprising. the laser cats, as expected, emerged from their three-game championship series with voltron as winners, becoming the fifth consecutive reglar season winner to earn the left-eye.
voltron made a series of it, holding close in the first game before falling, then taking the second game rather easily.  but in the last matchup, the laser cats depth and skill was just too much for voltron, who fell in 15-run fashion to what may be the greatest sbl team of all time.
congratulations to the laser cats.

TOMKO TAKES HOME P.O.T.Y.

for the sixth time in his hall of fame career, nate tomko will spend the offseason with the jim varney tophy.  the "earnest", awarded annually to the leagues most outstanding player, was taken by tomko in a narrow victory over teammate terry shernisky, now a three-time runner-up.  bryan frankovich of the queens was the other finalist.

WORLD PULLS OF A SHOCKING ALL-STAR WIN

with its roster decimated by vacations, the world looked like lambs to the slaughter for the high-powered sharon all-star squad.  with matt mcclelland and gavin st. john essentially the only team members to show up, the world was forced to call on the services of some of the sbl's middle of the pack stars.  what resulted was a highly competitive and grand slam-filled contest that featured a number of questionable decisions on both sides, but that ultimately produced a winner in the underdog world team.
congratulations to the world all-stars, who now hold a 4-2 edge in the all-time series with sharon.
